MONTREAL — A pot-ring bust Wednesday morning spearheaded by the RCMP has resulted in nine arrests by the force’s detachment in Drummondville.
Eight of the suspects are male and one is a woman, the Mounties said.
They range in age from 23 to 63.
The investigation was launched in March 2012, in partnership with the Sûreté du Québec.

It led to six early-morning police searches: two in Granby and one apiece in Drummondville, Sorel, Saint-Hilaire and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
Investigators seized “cannabis, hashish, contraband cigarettes, three firearms not stored properly as well as a money-counting machine,” the force said in a news release, without specifying drug quantities.
“All nine individuals were released and should appear in court at a later date,” the force stated.
“They could face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and drug trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
“Charges of illegal storage of firearms under the Criminal Code as well as possession of a tobacco product not properly stamped according to the Excise Act 2001 could also be filed.”
Three other police forces assisted, from Granby, Richelieu-Saint-Laurent and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
