Historical sex charges laid against Welland man, police fear there may be more victims

WELLAND, Ont. – Police say a 48-year-old man from Welland, Ont., is facing numerous sex charges dating back more than two decades.

Niagara regional police say they began investigating the allegations in January and made an arrest on Thursday.

The suspect faces two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and invitation to sexual touching.

He was being held in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines, Ont., on Friday.

Police say the investigation centred on alleged incidents between 1995 and 1999, when the alleged victim was a girl between 11 and 13 years old.
