Third Avenue United Church appeals rejected bid

Saskatoon’s Third Avenue United Church is appealing the Presbytery’s bid rejection. File / Global News

SASKATOON – The Board of Third Avenue United Church (TAUC) is appealing part of a decision made by the executive Presbytery on March 12.

Financial troubles and aging infrastructure at the church forced the congregation to put the building up for sale.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Two bids came in and the congregation recommended the bid from Third Avenue Centre which planned to purchase the building over a two-year time frame.

Opposed was the River Bend Presbytery who refused this bid and recommended the board start a new bidding process.

That portion of the ruling is being appealed.

The board wants to determine if Third Avenue Centre is prepared to make an outright purchase.

If not, only then would a new bidding process be required.
