Man charged with 2nd-degree murder of wife in Grande Prairie RCMP homicide investigation

Grande Prairie RCMP have charged a 59-year-old man in connection with the death of his wife after she was found dead in a rural area of northwestern Alberta on Tuesday morning.

Officers and emergency services responded just after 9 a.m. to a rural area near Bezanson, which is about 30 kilometres east of Grande Prairie.

Mounties arrived at a home to find the body of a woman.

Police said the scene was secure and there was no concern for public safety.

On Wednesday, RCMP said Randy Stephen Fiddler was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of his wife, Merna Fiddler, 55.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
