Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigation’s Unit (SIU) is probing the death of a 54-year-old man in Burk’s Falls.
The SIU says on March 4 at around 4 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police officers stopped a vehicle in Armour Township.
The driver and passenger were arrested, and the SIU says both were taken to the detachment in Burk’s Falls.
Investigators say the vehicle’s passenger went into medical distress and emergency medical services were called.
The SIU says the man was transported to hospital where he was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit.
Investigators say the man died in hospital on Friday.
Police notified the SIU, which invoked its mandate to investigate deaths, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault involving police officers.The SIU says a post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday.According to the SIU, two investigators have been assigned to this case.
