Guelph Storm finish regular season with 2 wins over Erie Otters

The Guelph Storm are cruising into the 2019 OHL playoffs following a pair of 5-2 wins over the Erie Otters.

Captain Isaac Ratcliffe scored his 50th goal of the season in the Friday night victory in front of over 4,300 fans at the Sleeman Centre.

MacKenzie Entwistle also had a pair of goals.

Nick Suzuki potted one in an empty net late in the third period and added three assists.

Anthony Popovich made 25 saves for the Guelph Storm.

Ratcliffe is just the fifth player in franchise history to score 50 goals in a season, following Ryan Callahan (2005-06), Todd Bertuzzi (1994-95), Jeff O’Neill (1994-95) and Mike Prokopec (1993-94).

All eyes shifted to Entwistle on Saturday as he continued to put the puck in the net in the Storm’s rematch with the Otters.

The Chicago Blackhawks prospect scored a hat trick and recorded an assist in Guelph’s second 5-2 victory over the weekend in Erie.

Zach Roberts and Ty Collins also scored for the Storm, while Nico Daws made 30 saves in the win.

The Storm finish the season in fourth place in the OHL’s western conference with 90 points and a record of 40-18-6-4.

They will meet the Kitchener Rangers in the first round with Game 1 scheduled for Friday at the Sleeman Centre.

Larry Mellott will have the call on 1460 CJOY at 7:30 p.m.
