CALGARY – Five people living in a southwest home will have to find another place to stay, after a fire early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived at a home along Strathbury Circle S.W. which was engulfed in flames just before 2 a.m.
All five residents were able to make it out of the home safely after smelling smoke, and were kept warm inside a neighbour’s house while fire crews battled the blaze.

Firefighters say one of residents tried to call 911 from inside the burning home, but the phone wasn’t functional. Once outside, one of the residents attempted to extinguish the flames by dousing them with a garden house.
Fire crews were able to protect adjacent homes from the blaze, and none were damaged.
However, the main home involved will not be habitable until extensive repairs are completed.
No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Meanwhile, investigators are also looking into the cause of a fire a few hours earlier, in the community of Erin Woods.
The blaze broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Neighbours called 911 after noticing flames shooting from the side of a nearby house.
Crews arrived to find a rubbish fire was burning between two homes, which were evacuated as a precaution.
