A record-breaking year for the Red River Mutual Trail at The Forks has come to an end.

The trail is now closed for the season and people are being asked to stay off the river as temperatures warm up.
After opening Dec. 28, the trail stayed open for 76 days — the longest it has ever been active.

WATCH: Take a trip down memory lane on the Red River Mutual Trail
The trail stretched from St. Vital Bridge to Hugo Docks, a total of 8.6 km, still shy of last year’s record-long total of 10 km.

The Forks estimates nearly 800,000 people skated on the trail this year.
