Quebec provincial police arrest man in connection with sexual assaults in Repentigny

Quebec provincial police have arrested a 24-year-old Laval man in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Repentigny, east of the Island of Montreal.

The man was arrested Tuesday morning in L’Assomption and is expected to appear in a Joliette court in the afternoon.

Police allege that the suspect has been committing acts of sexual assault in the area since December 2018.

The Sûreté du Québec explains that the man waited for his victims between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. at a bus stop on Iberville Boulevard in a black Acura ILX.

Residents who live in the area say they’re shocked, as it’s known to be a quiet neighbourhood.

“It’s really out of the pale, but then again, I guess it’s the kind of world we’re living in nowadays,” said resident Carle Bacha.
