A major warm-up toward the freezing mark is on the way.
Saskatoon forecast
Friday
-25 is what it felt like Friday morning with wind chill in the city as temperatures slid back to -15 C to start the day under partly to mostly sunny skies.
A breezy southwesterly wind kicked in during the morning with gusts up to 46 km/h, which helped warm the region up to -12 heading into the noon hour.
Minus single digits return during the afternoon as more clouds build in and southwesterly winds remain gusty through the remainder of the day.
Friday night
Clouds roll back in with a chance of flurries during the evening with a system passing by as conditions cool back into the minus teens overnight.
Saturday
-25 is what it’ll feel like with wind chill to start the second weekend of March under a mix of sun and cloud that will stick around through the day.
Winds will remain breezy and switch around to be from the northwest during the day, with an afternoon high aiming to make it up to around -8 C, but it will still feel like the minus teens with the wind chill.
Sunday
Partly cloudy skies will shift to be even sunnier during the day on Sunday with a cool morning low in the -20s with -30 morning wind chills possible to start the day.
Winds will ease back, making the wind chill less of a factor during the day, with an afternoon high headed back into minus single digits by a degree or so.
Work week outlook
A building upper ridge will bring in the warmest week the city has seen since January with daytime highs pushing toward the freezing mark mid-week.
Mostly sunny skies will kick things off on Monday with clouds rolling back in on Tuesday before a system brings back a good chance of snow mid-week and some slightly cooler air by Thursday and Friday.
