West Kelowna RCMP are asking the public to identify a man they believe is responsible for fraudulently taking thousands of dollars from cash loan businesses across the Central Okanagan.

Police said they found out last month that in late December and early January, the man gave false names and stolen personal identification to more than one money-lending business.

RCMP said the suspect made off with approximately $10,000.

He’s described as a slender Caucasian man in his 30’s with trimmed facial hair. He was seen wearing a black baseball cap with white lettering.

“In an effort to further our ongoing investigations, police are releasing an image taken by employees of the fraud suspect,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release. “Our hope is not only to positively identify the suspect, but to also prevent further businesses from being victimized by his tactics.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Matthew Mackay at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
