Calgary police are hoping to piece together the circumstances surrounding a Thursday morning shooting.

Police said a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the northeast community of Renfrew at around 1 a.m., but investigators are uncertain where the actual shooting took place.

The victim was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition and is co-operating with investigators, police said. EMS told Global News the victim was approximately 30-years-old,

Police tape cordoned off an area in the 1400 block of Renfrew Drive N.E. on Thursday morning as officers investigated the shooting.

Investigators told Global News they believe the victim and the offender knew each other, and that it was not a random attack.
