TORONTO – Actor Edward Norton has become a parent for the first time with his Canadian fiancee Shauna Robertson.

The couple welcomed a baby boy in March.

“It’s wonderful,” Robertson’s father Michael told Global News on Thursday.

“I’m a late bloomer,” quipped the proud new grandfather, a Pickering, Ont.-based hang-gliding instructor who famously flew from the CN Tower in 1988 to promote Diet Pepsi and worked on films like Fly Away Home.

Norton, 43, and Robertson, 38, were engaged in 2011 after six years together. The pair has not confirmed the birth and a representative for the actor would not comment.

Robertson is a native of Markham, Ontario — just north of Toronto — who moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. She has produced a number of films, including the comedies Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Superbad, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Norton’s films include The Bourne Legacy, The Italian Job and Red Dragon. He made 2002’s Death to Smoochy and 2008’s The Incredible Hulk in Toronto.

Robertson is not the first Canadian to have a baby with an American actor this year. In March, B.C. model Sonni Pacheco and actor Jeremy Renner welcomed daughter Ava Berlin Renner.

In 2010, actor Vince Vaughn’s Alberta-born wife Kyla Weber gave birth to their daughter Locklyn Kyla Vaughn.
