The City of Regina is proposing a new zoning bylaw that will impact property owners and is asking the public for input.
The updated bylaw aims to help facilitate the goals and priorities of the Official Community Plan: Design Regina, along with updating and modernizing regulations to land use and development.
Things like building a garage or deck, or changes to a commercial building.
“Once adopted, the new zoning bylaw will shape the city’s future growth,” Mayor Michael Fougere said.
“Resident input is key to adopting an updated zoning bylaw that aligns with our community vision and supports growth that meets residents’ expectations for land use and development.”
The proposed bylaw was released on Friday for public consideration and feedback.
It’s a result of review that included extensive consultation with developers, architects, home builders, non-profit housing providers, realtors and community associations.
“Public review will continue until March 15,” said Diana Hawryluk, city planning & community development executive director.
“As the proposed Zoning Bylaw is the primary tool for regulating land use and development in Regina and may affect how your property can be developed in the future, I encourage all residents to attend a Zoning 101 Session in their ward to learn more and provide input and feedback.”
Public input will be considered when the proposed Bylaw is finalized and presented to city council for its review and approval in June.
