Arrests made as police investigate suspicious death in northwest Calgary alleyway

A man found with a gunshot wound to the head in a northwest Calgary alleyway has died in hospital, police said.

Police said they were called to 15 Street and Kensington Road N.W. area at around 12 a.m. Tuesday where they found a man with a serious head injury.

The 34-year-old man was taken to the Foothills Hospital in life-threatening condition and later died, police said.

Police also said an autopsy was scheduled to be done Wednesday.

The investigation has been turned over to the homicide unit and is being treated as a suspicious death, police said in a news release Tuesday morning.

In a Wednesday morning release, police said two suspects were taken into custody at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night in the Westhills area. Police said they were also executing search warrants across the city, including in an area near Westhills Towne Centre.
