With the riding boundaries redrawn since the 2015 election, the current Airdrie MLA Angela Pitt will be running again, but in the Airdrie-East riding. The race in Airdrie-Cochrane is wide open.

For this election, Airdrie was divided into two ridings: Airdrie-East and Airdrie-Cochrane.
Airdrie became a new riding in 2012.
