Police said they were called to a home in the 4500-block of Bowness Road N.W. at around 9:30 p.m., after a man reported a bullet had been fired into his home and was lodged in his living room wall.

Investigators said two adults and two children were home at the time but no one was injured.

Homeowner Caitlyn Smith said her family was enjoying a quiet night at home when the incident happened.

“My husband and daughter were watching TV in the living room, I was in the spare room [and] my son was in his room and suddenly [we] heard these loud cracking noises,” she said. “I thought [it] was the living room…the glass was all intact. We looked all around and saw the entry hole above the piano.”
