Hickstead, the legendary mount of Canadian rider Eric Lamaze, passed away during a competition on Sunday after an apparent heart attack. The 15-year-old stallion carried Lamaze to the top of the podium at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and to a victory at the CN International at Spruce Meadows in Calgary this past September. Together, Lamaze and Hickstead were the number one ranked horse and rider team in the world.
