Grammy nominations 2019: Drake, Cardi B and Lady Gaga lead the pack

Canadian artist Drake was one of eight artists nominated for Album of the Year during the 2019 Grammy nominations on Friday – Dec 7, 2018

The 2019 Grammy nominations were announced on Friday morning, and Post Malone, Lady Gaga and Cardi B took the lead with the most nominations.

Chart-toppers Drake and Shawn Mendes made Canadians proud by picking up multiple nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The Toronto rapper pulled in seven nominations, including nods in the album, record and song of the year categories for work from his 2018 double album Scorpion.

The performer, born Aubrey Graham, was also recognized for his contributions to other rappers’ tracks, including Travis Scott‘s Sicko Mode, which is up for best rap performance.

Noah Shebib, another one of Drake’s producers, is also being recognized with three nominations for his work on songs from Scorpion.

Mendes scored two nominations: one for song of the year for In My Blood and another for best pop vocal album.
