Fatal head-on crash east of Saskatoon

SASKATOON – A fatal crash between a truck and a minivan occurred just outside Saskatoon on Wednesday evening.

Around 7 p.m., emergency services arrived on Highway 5 east of the Highway 41 intersection which was closed while police investigated the crash.

Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services found a half-ton truck and a minivan had collided head-on.

The lone male in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two females and a man from the truck were removed and sent to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

MD Ambulance says they were extremely busy with several crashes on Highway 5 Wednesday night which carried on into the morning.

RCMP were not recommending travel on many Saskatchewan highways last night due to snowfall and icy conditions.
