Officers were called just before 3 a.m. on Sunday to the Paranoia nightclub at 118 5 Ave. S.W. after reports there had been a physical altercation involving more than 20 people inside the establishment.

One man, identified by family as 37-year-old Rufus Eldin, sustained life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital, police said. The investigation was handed over to the homicide unit.

EMS said another person was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

Harrison is described as being about 5’9″ tall, 190 pounds and often has black, shoulder-length, braided hair.

A man with the same name pleaded guilty in January to aggravated assault in relation to a stabbing at the Drop-In Centre that happened on May 15, 2017.

As investigators continue to look into the physical altercation at the nightclub, CPS said they’re combing through CCTV footage in hopes of identifying everyone who was at the nightclub when the fight happened.

Anyone with information on this incident, or who was inside the nightclub when the fight happened, is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or 403-428-8877, or to contact Crime Stoppers.
