A section of Akerley Boulevard in Dartmouth’s Burnside Industrial Park was blocked to traffic Monday morning as police investigated a suspicious package.
Officers were called to the scene at 13 Akerley Blvd. at around 10:45 a.m.
“Officers with the Explosive Disposal Unit used a counter explosive charge to detonate the suspicious package,” Halifax Regional Police said in a news release.

The westbound lanes of the road were closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Morris and Mosher Drives.
The area re-opened to traffic at around 1:15 p.m.
