Edmontonians dealing with another spring snowfall

Edmonton – Two weeks after a spring snow storm caused havoc in the Capital Region, Mother Nature is at it again; although, this snowfall isn’t expected to be as treacherous.

A freezing rain warning early Friday morning, followed by snowfall, created slick road conditions for Edmonton drivers during the morning commute.

City crews hit the streets early Friday morning to begin removing snow from roads.

“We were watching the weather eleven o’clock last night and we staffed up at three this morning,” says Roland Aitchison, City of Edmonton, Superintendent of Operations.

Spring Snowfall

Crews received help from Mother Nature by mid-morning Friday.  With the temperature hovering around the freezing mark, snow was melting on city streets, improving road conditions.

More snow is expected to fall on Edmonton late Saturday, which could bring the total snowfall over the two day period to as much as 15 centimetres.

“We’re prepared. We got everybody up on staff 24 – 7, so whatever happens this weekend, we’ll be able to deal with it,” says Aitchison.

Aitchison, along with most Edmontonians, has had enough of the snowfall this spring.

“I’m getting to the point, I’d like to see some summer just as much as everybody else,” express Aitchison.
