Driver runs away on foot after 2-vehicle Brampton crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

Peel Regional Police say a person is dead and another is injured after a collision in Brampton Sunday morning.

Officers say they were called to the area of Castlemore Road and Highway 50 with reports of a collision around 12:25 a.m.

When police arrived on scene they said two people in one vehicle were both injured and one was pronounced dead on the scene.

Later Sunday morning, a police spokesperson told Global News one vehicle was travelling eastbound on Castlemore Road while the other was travelling southbound on Highway 50 before the two collided, causing serious damage.

The spokesperson said a man and a woman, both 31 years old, were in one of the vehicles. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene while the man has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Officers said the driver of the second vehicle ran away from the scene on foot and has yet to be apprehended. They are still in the process of identifying this individual and said charges are pending.

The Major Collision Bureau has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
