RCMP seize $22,000 worth of pot from car in Banff

BANFF, AB – A Kelowna man is facing a handful of charges after RCMP discovered over eight pounds of marijuana inside his vehicle.

Officers stopped a Chevrolet Malibu on the Trans-Canada Highway on Saturday, near the Banff Park Gates.

RCMP say the vehicle was stopped for travelling 22 kilometers over the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was searched after marijuana resin was found.

Officers found 8.5 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $22,000.

Kirk Reed, 46, has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and will be appearing in Canmore Provincial Court this month.
