Police seek witnesses of southwest Edmonton collision

Police say a little girl left inside a parked car during extreme heat in Edmonton has died in hospital.

EDMONTON- The Edmonton Police Service is searching for witnesses of a collision that left a teenage girl in hospital with serious injuries Thursday night.

The collision happened around 11:00p.m. in the area of 23rd Avenue at the Smith Crossing Bridge, in southwest Edmonton.

Police say four female teens were in an SUV, when it flipped onto its roof after colliding with a pickup truck.

One of the teens in the SUV sustained severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. The female driver, as well as the two other passengers in the SUV, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The lone occupant of the pickup truck, a 43-year-old man, was not injured in the collision.

The EPS Major Collision Investigative Unit is investigating the collision. Officers say icy road conditions may have been a factor.

Police say a dark grey, 2007 Suzuki SX4 SUV and a white, 2009 Ford F350 were the vehicles involved in the collision.
