A new multi-sport field was inaugurated Wednesday at Champdoré Park Montreal’s Saint-Michel for youth to enjoy.
The project was spearheaded by the Montreal Impact Foundation and was built mainly for underprivileged youth in the area. It’s the first in a series of such projects that the foundation wants to build across the city.
“I think that it can bring kids together, and when you start getting together to play a sport, you also create memories,” foundation president Carmie Saputo tells Global News. “Sometimes, they’re not great memories because there are disappointments. But those disappointments teach you lessons.”

Players from the Montreal Impact were on hand, as well as several kids from the neighbourhood to try it out. Team goalie thinks it’s important to stay active.
“I think it’s fantastic,” he says. It’s great to promote the game but it’s great to promote physical activity in general. “So whether they wanna play soccer or whatever they wanna do on it, it’s there and it’s available for them.”
