N.S. man arrested after allegedly driving lawn tractor on road drunk

A 50-year-old man from Lunenburg County is facing impaired-driving charges after he was allegedly caught driving a lawn tractor while intoxicated.

Lunenburg District RCMP say officers received a call from a member of the public around 8 p.m., who suspected the man operating the lawn tractor was impaired.

Police say they attended the home on Grimm Road in First South, N.S., and located the suspected impaired driver driving the lawn tractor down the road.

Police say Andrew Melvin George failed a roadside test and later provided breath samples, which were more than three times the legal limit.

George has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle over 80 mgs, failing to comply with a probation order and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

George was held in custody overnight and has since been released. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on Sept. 5.
