2 N.S. women charged with drug trafficking following 7-month investigation

Two women from Port Hawkesbury and Antigonish are facing drug charges as a result of an opioid-trafficking investigation.

Nova Scotia RCMP say the investigation by members of the Inverness/Richmond County Street Crime Enforcement Unit began in February.

Darlene Lorraine Bowen, 54, of Embree Island, N.S., and Carol Bouchie, 47, of Aulds Cove, N.S., have been charged with trafficking oxycodone.

Bouchie is also facing two counts of trafficking hydromorphone. She was released and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury provincial court on Sept. 18.

Bowen remains behind bars and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday.
