Two morning fires at the same townhouse complex in west London are being treated as suspicious by investigators.
The London Fire Department was first called about a fence fire at 1481 Limberlost Rd. around 5 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they discovered the outside of another unit was also on fire.
“One fire was external to the building, in the yard, where some mattresses were set on fire,” said the London Fire Department’s deputy fire chief, Jack Burt.
“There was a second unit where a fire occurred outside the unit at the front door, and caused extensive damage to the exterior of the building and into the building itself.”
Burt says there were no injuries to firefighters or residents, who were outside the building when fire crews arrived.
Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating both blazes, alongside London police and the London Fire Department.

Burt says it’s unclear whether the fires are linked, and that investigators are working to determine the origin, cause, and circumstances of both blazes.
“Due to the time of day when these fires occurred, there are very few witnesses,” said London police’s Detective Sergeant Blair Harvey.
“As a result, anyone who may have information about these fires is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers as soon as possible.”
The London Police Service can be reached at 519-661-5670, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
There is no damage estimate as of yet.
