Two separate fires in Edmonton’s northwest kept crews busy Sunday evening and into early Monday morning.
At around 7:17 p.m. Sunday, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said they were called to a report of a housefire on Wolf Willow Point NW.
Upon arrival, Edmonton fire called for more resources, with 28 firefighters eventually being deployed at the scene.
“I just came home, I saw a big explosion and then all of a sudden smoke started coming out,” said witness Baljodh Ranu. “I called the fire department, then after that I checked all the neighbours, made sure they’re okay. There’s nobody home; I checked all the doors.”

The fire was declared under control at around 11:13 p.m. and there were no reports of injuries.
Later at around 2:09 a.m. Monday, Edmonton fire said they were called to a house fire on Veterans Way in the northwest community of Griesbach.
The house was under construction and was not occupied, fire said.
Concept Homes, the company building the Griesbach house, said it is devastated for its customer.
“Last night’s fire took their new home and we hope that those responsible are apprehended,” president Rick Hinteregger said in an email to Global News.
“As a family owned business for 50 years, Concept Homes customers and their families are our number one priority. Our staff is working hard together with our dedicated group of trades and suppliers to build this home again and get our customers settled in as soon as possible.”
Edmonton fire said they had 20 firefighters on scene. The fire was under control by 2:46 a.m.
Edmonton fire said nobody was injured in this incident.
Both fires remain under investigation.
