WHITBY, Ont. – Police say three people are facing charges after a brief pursuit in Whitby, Ont.
Durham regional police say officers were pursuing a suspicious vehicle on Thursday night when it allegedly sideswiped a cruiser that had pulled alongside.
It’s alleged the vehicle then entered a Highway 401 off-ramp the wrong way and police bumped the vehicle, causing it to spin over a grassy median and come to a stop on the on-ramp.
As officers approached to arrest the three people inside, it’s alleged that one man tried to flee and struggled with an officer until a stun gun was used.
Police say a 26-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, both from Oshawa, Ont., and a 27-year-old man from Pickering, Ont., were arrested.
All three face charges that include possession of crystal meth and marijuana and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The Oshawa man also is charged with assaulting a police officer and assault with intent to resist arrest.
