The duo is hosting their “Thank You Ilderton’ bash at the Ilderton Arena and Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon.

“It’s just going to be a family fun day. We wanted to give back,” said Moir.

“Every time we come home from an Olympic season there’s so much support. With this likely being the end of our Olympic career we wanted to do something different,” he said.

“We wanted to do a little party for the community rather than them putting on a parade for us.”

The community-spirited day will include a parade and live music with surprise bands. There will also be a kid’s zone and food trucks.

“We’re very excited about the people that we having coming, but a lot of our stuff is local talent and we’re so proud to showcase that,” said Moir. “It’s cool to turn it around and shed some light on people from our area.”

“It’s not going to be anything crazy. I know some radio stations have been saying we have Drake coming out,” he said.

The event starts at 3 p.m. and will run until 10 p.m. and tickets are required.

“It’s kind of like going back in time,” said Moir.

“I’m not really ever here, so it’s a little odd. I still feel like I’m in high school,” he said.

Last month, it was announced that Moir and Virtue would be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
