Sources say the deaths of three individuals found at two separate homes in Calgary on Tuesday are being investigated as a triple homicide and were domestic in nature.
Officers were called to the 2000 block of Applevillage Court S.E. at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday where they found a woman dead.
Almost simultaneously, a call came into a 911 centre and officers did a check on welfare at a home in the 10100 block of Hidden Valley Drive N.W., where officers found another man and woman dead.
Duchnij could not say whether any witnesses were being interviewed as part of the investigation.
One person is in custody, police said. They added they aren’t looking for any other suspects.
Police believe the incidents are related and not random, however, investigators can’t say whether the three dead and the suspect were known to each other.
Investigators also said as of 4:30 p.m. they don’t know what could have motivated the killings, or whether any of the four people involved were known to police prior to the incident.
“We’re literally about four, five hours into this call and right now. It’s really preliminary and we’ve got all these units that are coming together and trying to find out those pieces right now,” Duchnij said.
The medical examiner is attending to both scenes and the homicide unit is investigating all three deaths.
