The 2018 municipal election in Guelph will feature 37 candidates contending for one of the 13 seats on city council.
Only two of those are after the mayor’s seat as current mayor Cam Guthrie will go head-to-head against Aggie Mlynarz, who recently came up short in her bid to become MPP for Guelph for the Ontario New Democrats.
Ten of the 12 current councillor will also be looking to keep their job.
Karl Wettstein in Ward 6 and Andy Van Hellemond in Ward 2 have both confirmed they will not seek re-election.

A pair of former councillors are looking to get their old jobs back: Peter Hamtak in Ward 4 and Lise Burcher in Ward 6.
A total of 20 people have registered to run for school trustee in the Upper Grand District School Board. The Wellington Catholic District School Board has six candidates in Guelph.
