Severe thunderstorm warning issued for London-area

A stormy evening is expected in the London region.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for London, Parkhill, Strathroy, Komoka and Middlesex County late Monday morning. A warning was issued shortly at 6 Monday evening.

The national weather agency says a series of strong thunderstorms is expected to move through portions of Middlesex and Oxford counties with the communities of Arva, Thorndale, Kintore, Lakeside, Brooksdale, and Embro the most likely to experience potentially torrential rain.

Officials are reminding everyone to take shelter if severe weather approaches while motorists are reminded to turn on lights and maintain a safe following distance if visibility is reduced.
