1 man dead, 1 injured in separate motorcycle crashes in the Montreal area

A 22-year-old Boucherville man has died after he was involved in a collision on Highway 15 South in Laval Saturday night.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Hélène Nepton said the crash happened at around 9 p.m.

The man was travelling by motorcycle with a group of around six other motorcycles.

“He was the last motorcycle in the group,” Nepton said, adding that he lost control of his bike and hit a concrete wall before ending up lying on the road.

“A car then drove over him.”

The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

Nepton said the driver of the car stopped and remained at the scene.

It is unclear how the driver lost control of his motorcycle. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Earlier in the evening, at around 7:30 p.m., another motorcyclist also lost control of his motorcycle and hit a concrete wall before being thrown off his bike.

He was travelling on Highway 40 East in Montreal at the time of the crash.

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but on Sunday morning Nepton said his condition had been upgraded to stable.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash.
