Hamilton Centre New Democrat MP David Christopherson says he will not seek re-election when his current term expires in October, 2019.
The 63-year-old has been Hamilton Centre’s MP in the House of Commons since 2004.
He previously served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990-2003 and was a cabinet minister when Bob Rae was premier.
“After 30+ years in elected office, and the last 14 as MP, I will not be seeking re-election in 2019 and plan to step away from public life at the end of this term,” he said in a statement. “Many thanks to my family, staff and supporters.”
