A Greyhound driver has been suspended after allegedly assaulting a passenger during a stop in Penticton
.
Greyhound spokesperson Maureen Richmond tells Global Okanagan that the bus was traveling from Vancouver to Calgary when it stopped in Penticton Saturday morning.
Richmond says the bus was at the Greyhound depot when a passenger got into a verbal confrontation with the driver. She says the driver felt threatened and ordered the passenger off the bus, and when the passenger refused, the driver tried to physically remove the passenger. Ultimately, she says the driver allowed the passenger to continue to journey to Kelowna but was dropped off in Kelowna.

“Apparently there was an argument between the passenger and the driver and it escalated to the point where we were called,” said Cst. Kris Clark with the Kelowna RCMP. Clark confirms that the incident took place in Penticton but the report was filed in Kelowna.
Richmond says the male driver has been with Greyhound since 2002.
“This is the first time a passenger has complained about him. He has been a good driver for us during that time,” she said.
Cst. Kris Clark with the Kelowna RCMP says that police are investigating and add that there were no injuries.
He notes that the driver could face a charge of assault if the allegations are proven to be true.
Greyhound says the passenger was not permitted to continue the journey to Calgary and was issued a travel voucher. Richmond says the driver has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
