Southern Manitoba under severe thunderstorm watch

Rain could spoil Canada Day celebrations across much of southern Manitoba on Sunday.

As of the early afternoon, 13 regions in the south and southwestern parts of the province are under a severe thunderstorm watch, according to Environment Canada.

  • Brandon-Neepawa
  • Dauphin-Russell
  • Dugald-Beausejour-Grand Beach
  • Killarney-Pilot Mound
  • Melita-Boissevain
  • Minnedosa-Riding Mountain National Park
  • Morden-Winkler
  • Portage la Prairie-Headingley
  • Selkirk-Gimli-Stonewall
  • Ste. Rose- McCreary
  • Steinbach-Emerson
  • Virden Souris

Environment Canada said the storms could bring strong wind gusts, heavy rain and large hail to these regions.

The storms could carry into the evening.
