Forgetting Sunscreen

With the sun shining strong and bright today, I grabbed my book and went out to catch a few rays.

Right away, I could feel the intesity of the sunshine, despite the temperature only been low twenties and cloud cover rolling in.

So instead of sinking down into my novel, I dilligently went back inside and applied my sunscreen.

Good thing — the UV index is at 8 today, or very high.  This means skin damage can occur within 10 minutes, whether you notice it or not!

I made the mistake on my honeymoon of forgetting the sunblock one day.  It was hard to tell how hot it was that day, because the wind was strong and we were in and out of the pool/ocean.

But I should have known better — several hours sitting out unprotected in the Jamaican sun isn’t good for anyone!

Now I’m paying the price!  My tan is completely peeling off, leaving my golden skin looking more like a leopard than lovely.

My doctor always reminds me to put sunscreen on my hands and face.  It helps as you get older, but they are also the parts of your body most often exposed to the sunshine.

Don’t forget your neck, legs (if you love shorts), and arms.  I’m so fair, I always have to add a little to the part in my hair (especially if I’m outside for long periods of time).

It only takes a few extra minutes, but it could be the most important of your day.  Remember your sunscreen, not just when you’re going to the beach, but everyday!
