Tragedy has struck once again along Highway 401, this time between Glen Miller Road and Wallbridge Loyalist Road early Friday morning.
The collision occurred just after midnight, and involved four tractor trailers according to OPP.
OPP say one of the drivers involved in the collision succumbed to his injuries on scene. Roger Esson, 47, from Trent Hills passed away after Esson’s truck crashed into another truck, OPP say.
The cause of the collision is still unknown.
OPP say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.
The technical traffic collision investigation unit arrived on scene at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning.
The eastbound lanes of highway near Trenton were closed for an extended period of time on Friday, the day before the Canada Day long weekend. Traffic was being re-directed at Glen Miller Road.
OPP announced on Twitter that the eastbound lanes were reopened just before 4 p.m. on Friday.
