Calgary home surrounded by police tactical, K9 units determined to be empty

Hours after the Calgary police tactical and K9 units were called to a home in the Sunalta neighbourhood, police have determined the house was empty.

At around 6 a.m. Friday, police received a call that a woman who had fled a residence and had been assaulted with a weapon, police said.

She was treated for minor injuries.

Several police units surrounded the residence in the 1600 block of 12 Avenue S.W. They initially believed four people were inside.

At about 2:30 p.m., it was determined no one was inside the home and the officers began leaving the scene.

Police said the scene is no longer active but an investigation is ongoing.
