Two buses collided in the 14 Street S.W. and 23 Avenue S.W. area on Friday – Jun 22, 2018

A bus driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after two buses collided in southwest Calgary on Friday.

EMS said the collision occurred at the intersection of 14 Street S.W. and 23 Avenue S.W. at around 6 a.m.

Calgary fire said they had to extricate the bus driver from a bus.

One of the buses involved had passengers on board, but EMS said there were no serious injuries.

Calgary Transit said in an emailed statement the incidents are “exceptionally rare.”

It added support is being offered to the operator as the collision is under investigation by both transit officials and police.
