The move to ban plastic drink straws has gained a lot of momentum.
It’s all part of a larger movement to reduce plastic waste in landfills and oceans.
“Straws don’t fall into our core values here; we are re-useable, sustainable compostable organic, and when you look at what straws do for the environment, they just don’t fit with us,” said Summerhill Organic Kitchen Executive Chef Jeremy Luypen.

Now two Okanagan business women are marketing a metal straw that they hope will help replace the plastic drink straw.

It’s called the EcoStraw and is made from food-grade aluminum.
The reusable, two-piece personal straw comes in multiple colours, is dishwasher safe and, most importantly, is environmentally friendly.
The EcoStraw just launched two weeks ago and is currently available only online.
