UPDATE: 2:20 p.m. — The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team found the body of the 20-year-old Delta man after they arrived at about 1 p.m, said a news release.
A frantic search is underway Thursday for a missing 20-year-old man in Alice Lake near Squamish.
Squamish Search and Rescue say they received a call at approximately 8:15 p.m. Wednesday from a bystander at the lake who said they heard someone screaming about a man in the water and people trying to find him.

The missing man from Delta was swimming in the area with friends when he went into distress close to the shoreline on the southwest side of the lake.
His friends and other bystanders immediately searched the area for him and called for help.
Alongside search and rescue, Squamish RCMP, Fire Services and BC Ambulance Service were all involved in the search Wednesday night.
“The search continues (Thursday) morning and Squamish RCMP has engaged the assistance of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT)” said Cpl. Sascha Banks. “At this time we are informing the public that Alice Lake is closed until further notice, but the campground remains open.”
Squamish RCMP is in contact with the man’s family but say his name will not be released at this time. If anyone has any information relevant to the search, contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or call 911.
