TORONTO – Gun control opponents are “heartless motherf**kers unwilling to bend for the safety of our kids,” according to Canadian actor Jim Carrey.

The Toronto-born star posted the comment on Twitter to promote Cold Dead Hand, a new Funny or Die video.

“Over a million ppl have been killed by guns in the US since John Lennon was shot,” he tweeted to his 10 million followers. “Look no further than your own backyard for WMDs!” He also asked: “Do we possess guns in America or do guns possess us?”

Alberte Anxo tweeted: “You have NO SAY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA … Shame on you!”

On Fox News, Greg Gutfield lashed out at Carrey. ” He is probably the most pathetic tool on the face of the earth and I hope his career is dead. And I hope he ends up sleeping in a car, the way his life began.”

Carrey responded to the debate on Twitter. “I don’t think i’ve ever felt so despised and so free at the same time.”
