A man died after being hit by an LRT train on the tracks in northeast Edmonton early Friday. Police said on Saturday the 21-year-old man’s death was not criminal in nature.
Police were called just after 1 a.m. and told the train had collided with a person on the tracks just south of Clareview Station, about 200 meters north of the 137 Avenue overpass.
The man did not survive. It’s not know how he ended up on the tracks.
Edmonton police forensics team members and the medical examiner’s office are in the process of identifying the man.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit will also be reviewing surveillance video from Edmonton Transit.
The line closed between Clareview and Belvedere stations, and replacement bus service was running for a few hours in the morning. Service resumed later in the day.
