Calgary fire crews were called to a two-alarm blaze in southwest Calgary Thursday morning.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) said the call came in at around 6:20 a.m. and reported a residential fire at a townhouse complex at Killarney Glen Court near Richmond Road S.W. and 32 Avenue S.W.
“Several people passing by alerted the occupants to the danger by banging on the doors and windows of the residences,” CFD said in a news release Thursday.
Five people and a dog got out of the residence and there are no reports of injuries, CFD said.
There is major damage to two of the four units, with smoke damage to two others in the block.
“Thus far, it appears that the fire started on the outside deck of the west end unit,” CFD said.
CFD is asking anyone with video or photos of the fire that were taken before the fire department arrived to email them to Carol Henke, the department’s public information officer.
“Investigators would especially like to speak to the Good Samaritans who alerted the occupants to the fire, aiding in a safe evacuation,” CFD said.
