The Breaking of the Plates!

Good day everyone,

I had the opportunity this weekend to MC a fabulous event called "An Evening in Greece". It was local fundraiser in support of the Hospitals  Of Regina Foundation. Over 700 people contributed with plentiful donations and they had the opportunity to enjoy an exquisite Greek dinner and desert buffet, dance the night away to a wonderful Greek Band called "First Generation" and they got to smash up some plates (a Greek tradition). The smashing plates tradition is a way of showing approval, replacing an earlier tradition that involved throwing knives into the floor at the dancer's feet! It was very interesting to see people dance and break plates as they sipped Greek Ouzo (a delicious greek liquor). I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and no, I did not actually break a plate myself… or have too much Ouzo.
Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.
On another note… A person I would like to give a shout out to is Greg Johnson from Regina, SK. Greg is local photographer who I am looking forward to chatting with in the near future about his exciting passion for Storm Chasing. He has a special interest for Tornados. Check out this link that explains about who he is and what he does: http://tornadohunter.ca/ . I hope to go out on a chase with him one day.

Lastly, here is a great link that shows how  the Shuttle Discovery looks from the air. Check out these pilots who thought they were flying high until…
